LAHORE: The Sheikhupura district police officer (DPO) told the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday that all the SHOs and SDPOs of the district have been directed to search their areas and identify the elements involved in getting forced labour. A report submitted by the DPO in the court of the LHC chief justice says that the police officers have also been directed to keep a vigilant eye on such elements, and if identified, action to be taken immediately. The report was submitted on a suo motu notice initiated by the chief justice after a news item appeared in a section of the press that a landlord, Irfan Awan, allegedly detained one Shamsher and forced him to work at his farms. The report further said that the investigation of the case had been completed, and that a challan had been submitted in the court.

It looks like if you're buying a smartphone from Verizon Wireless on or after November 14, 2008, you will be forced into buying a data plan of $29.99 or higher. According to Engadget Mobile, there is confirmation in a Verizon Wireless document that says that Pay As You Go, 10 MB data plans, and 1X Block won't be available to smartphone users when the new data policy takes place. Now, if you want a smartphone for PIM management features only, you may find yourself adding wireless data features that you may have not considered previously.
