Kenwood on Tuesday announced it will soon release its CR-iP500 all-in-one radio with an integrated iPod dock. It has a slot-loading CD drive that will support MP3 and WMA files recorded onto CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Digital files on flash memory drives can be played thanks to a USB 2.0 connection, while an iPod cradle lets users control their Apple music devices via the CR-iP500's own controls. The FM tuner can save 30 station presets and there is a clock radio with alarm functionality.

ASUS on Wednesday introduced its newest and most powerful gaming PC, the ROG CG6190. The mid-tower runs Intel's newly released Core i7 Extreme Edition processor running at 3.2GHz and uses the X58 chipset; in a more unique twist, an ASUS-specific turbo mode lets users dial in up to 20 percent of overclocking from the factory. Compared to a model using Intel's previous generation quad-core chips, the Core i7 system is estimated to run 52 percent faster in 3D gaming tasks.

Japan's Keian on Friday announced the release of its P71-A2-JP product that combines a 7-inch LCD screen with 480x234 resolution with a color photo printer, digital audio player and a USB port that allows users to connect external and flash-based hard drives. The printer can produce images viewers can see on the 7-inch screen at a 300dpi sharpness.

Vers on Wednesday announced the release of its Vers 1.5R alarm clock radio with a built-in iPod dock. Sharing many of its features with the existing Vers 2X system, the new system packages them into a smaller product. Samsung on Tuesday announced the upcoming release of four new Bluetooth accessories. The first of the new devices, the WEP460 mono headset, is a basic wireless device that provides up to eight hours of talk time. Available in a black finish, the WEP640 sports a clear ear hook that is detachable. The next device up, the Samsung SBH700, is a stereo Bluetooth headset that doubles as a pair of music headphones thanks to a foldable, behind-the-neck design. The SBH700 has noise reduction technology for clear sound delivery.

Fujitsu on Tuesday announced the upcoming release of its 2.5-inch MJA2 BH- and MJA2 CH-series hard disk drives, both 5400RPM, SATA units with 500GB of capacity. The MJA2 CH drives sport AES hardware-based full disk encryption (FDE) with a 256-bit key size. This hardware-based encryption offers greater security than software-based protection, as the user password is not obtainable when the drives are powered off.

Hitachi is releasing a new family of Travelstar 2.5-inch drives with improved security features, and reduced power use for longer battery life. The Travelstar 5K500.B line will be available in several sizes ranging from 160 to 500GB operating at 5400RPM with an 8MB cache. Hitachi says it expects the 5K500.B will be the first hard drive line to comply with the new Storage Security specification being finalized by the Trusted Security Group. The optional Bulk Data Encryption feature encrypts data as it is written to the drive and reverses this as information is retrieved, preventing casual data theft online.

Since the Christmas shopping spree is almost here, consumer electronics manufacturers from all around the world are scrambling to come up with certain products that will still manage to draw the customers' attention, despite their desire to spend less on gifts this year. And that's also the case with ViewSonic, which has just introduced the DPG801BK and DPG807BK models, a couple of 8-inch digital photo frames that combine certain advanced features with a very affordable price point.

Panasonic Intros "No. 1 Energy Efficient" Refrigerator

panasonic_ref.jpgPanasonic is slated to release what it touts is the number one energy efficient refrigerator to hit the market thus far, the NR-F503TE. A refrigerator's efficiency is measured by its power consumed annually. The Panasonic NR-F503TE promises 350 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year of consumption that's less than half what the old Panasonic refrigerators use. In fact, according to the US Department of Energy, a typical fridge consumes a little over 1,000 kWh/year.
