CORRECT: Vodafone cuts sales outlook as profit falls

Vittorio Colao, chief executive of Vodafone, has revealed plans to cut one billion pounds a year from the mobile phone group's operating costs by 2011. The current operating costs stand at 22 billion pounds a year. Colao also reduced Vodafone's full-year revenue targets, with expectations now at between and 38.8 billion and 39.7 billion pounds for the 12 months to December 31. The group had made a previous cut to its revenue expectations in July. However, Colao insisted that Vodafone would maintain profits and meet its targets by boosting cash flow through job cuts.
